    2016 — Juror, Congressional Art Competition for the Third Congressional District, Stephen Womack House of Representatives in Washington, DC One of three jurors of high school student’s artwork in the district to be awarded top five and the top award was sent to hang in the hallways of Congress for the year.

    2015 — University of Arkansas Chancellor Search- I was not on the search committee although I had a supporting role in taking the Chancellor candidate’s spouses to CBMAA and 21C and discussing Art in the region.

    2014–2016 — Advisor to Chancellor, Gearhart, Jane Gearhart, and Judy Schwab for the curatorial and acquisition of Art works for the Fowler House. This includes several visits to Artists Studios and research on reputable Arkansas Artist for the collection piece for the Fowler House among others.

    2014-2015 — Met with WolfBrown of San Francisco to discuss Northwest Arkansas’s Art culture and future, funded by the Walton Family Foundation. Walton Family Foundation, Arts Convening meeting with key Arts leaders in the NWA community with WolfBrown of San Francisco to a discussion about Northwest Arkansas’s Art culture and future.

    2013–2018 — NASAD-Worked with the faculty in Art to begin the process of accreditation in 2013 through the National Association of Schools for Art and Design, Associate Membership granted in 2017

    2013–2014 — University of Arkansas Rome Center Committee, revitalized the Art in Rome program after 4 years and created a new course system that would support two Art faculty a year, and funded 10 scholarships for Art students to attend.

This is a group of the most important business leaders in the state of Arkansas that have been meeting for the past 25 years, once a year. I was invited by Walton College of Business to be one of the Keynote speakers.

    2017 — Arkansas Art Educators Conference in Little Rock, Keynote Speaker of the event “School of Art: Transforming Arkansas Through Art Education”. I spoke to the 300 attendees about the School of Art and its future impact on art education in the state.

about the artist

Professor Jeannie Hulen is the Studio Art Program Director in the School of Art at the University of Arkansas. Her past leadership roles have been Associate Dean in Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences from 2017-2023, and chair of the Department of Art. During her administrative leadership, she stewarded historic gifts for the School of Art, including $120 Million from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation and over $72 Million from the Windgate Charitable Foundation, for the establishment of an endowed world-class School of Art and new state of the art facilities. Her first appointment to the University of Arkansas as ceramics faculty was in 2002. She received a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1995, and MFA from Louisiana State University in 2000. She has exhibited internationally including many exhibitions in conjunction with the National Council for the Education of Ceramic Arts. In 2009 she was a Resident Visiting Artist at the Tainan National University of The Arts in Tainan, Taiwan. She currently has ongoing research in West Africa following her 2018-2019 US Fulbright Scholar post at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana.
